What is defibrillation?
Defibrillation is an emergency treatment for ventricular fibrillation and other life-threatening arrhythmias (abnormal heartbeats). A heart in ventricular fibrillation stops pumping blood to the brain and body. It will cause cardiac arrest and death within a few minutes if not treated immediately. Defibrillation restores a normal heartbeat by shocking the heart with electricity.
An Automated External Defibrillator, or AED, is an important piece of equipment in the life-saving process after a sudden cardiac arrest incident.
Did you know that a sudden cardiac arrest victim’s chances of survival dramatically increase with immediate CPR and AED intervention?
A Personal Life-Threatening Encounter
In March 2021, Eric and I used our personal AED and performed CPR on our neighbor while we waited for first responders to arrive. By the time paramedics were loading him into the ambulance, he was awake and responsive!
We are passionate about putting AEDs in as many hands as possible within our communities. We believe AEDs should be readily accessible – in every business, every church, school, sporting venue, golf course, and every home. With the growing statistic of 8 out of 10 instances of cardiac arrest occurring within the home, it is more important than ever to have an AED within reach.
AEDs are Safe and Easy to Use
In our opinion, AEDs are super easy to use and safe to use. Depending on the brand and model, they will talk to you, guide you through placing the electrode pads on the patient, analyzing the heart rhythm, delivering a shock, and initiating CPR.
At Show Me CPR and Personal Safety, we offer free AED familiarization training with every AED purchase and we can also assist with the monthly AED inspection and maintenance.
Free Customized AED Consultations
Are you considering an AED for your home, organization, or office? Aren’t sure which type of AED is the best fit for you?
We offer free customized AED consultations with our recommendations and best pricing. We will get to know you, your reason for wanting an AED, the intended location for the AED (office setting, home use, in your work truck, etc.), and whether or not the AED may be used on adults or pediatric patients. We can then offer you a customized recommendation.
